Our White Modern Farmhouse Cottage Playhouse

Our playhouse hack was an Easter present for our 2 little girls – who firmly believe that sisters rule! We couldn’t agree more and had so much fun making it our very own. It’s been a blast styling it for the holidays and seasons. I’m so happy to share how I styled and decorated it in one post for you to refer to for inspiration!

My tips for styling your playhouse for the seasons and holidays is very simple. Stick to some basic items (linking them all for you below) and then add a few seasonal and holiday decor items. Involve your children in the decorating process – my girls love to help! Let their imaginations run wild. We did this when we created a lemonade stand with our playhouse. The possibilities are endless. Your heart will be full when you watch your children’s excitement as they play and enjoy it decorated throughout the year!

Playhouse Decorated for the Holidays

Christmas Playhouse

I went a little Clark Griswold for Christmas – lol! I had so much fun getting out the colorful lights, plaid bows and an adorable reindeer doormat for the holidays.

The girls loved the colorful lights on the playhouse – especially at night! It was super magical.

Easter Playhouse

Since we made this playhouse for the girls for Easter and actually finished it on Easter I had to decorate quickly for them. I’m excited to add a few more things this upcoming Easter. These cute wooden eggs were a big hit!

Memorial Day & 4th of July Playhouse

We had to add a little patriotic flair to our playhouse with USA flags, red, white and blue banners.

Halloween Playhouse

The girls did such an amazing job making our playhouse spooky with bats, spider webs and cute witches boots. I added twinkle lights, a cute kitty doormat and a couple other touches like that R.I.P. sign to our planter. The playhouse decorated for Halloween was one of their absolute favorites!

Playhouse Decorated for The Seasons

Fall Playhouse

This was my most favorite season to decorate our playhouse. I love fall so much and miss the seasons living here in California. Not complaining but seeing the leaves change is the best and growing up back east, fall was the most beautiful season to experience! I brought fall to our playhouse and you can read the entire post here. You can shop our fall string lights here and these adorable velvet pumpkins for play here.

Winter Playhouse

Depending on where you live and how cold and snowy your winters are, enjoying your playhouse during the winter may be a challenge. Living in California we get to enjoy our playhouse year round. It has been cooler this winter though and there are definitely days when just having some twinkle lights on makes it feel warm and cozy! Twinkle lights throughout the year especially winter make your playhouse feel extra warm and inviting which = more playtime! They are an easy update and provide light at night for those imaginations to run wild!

Spring Playhouse

I love this picture because it shows you where our playhouse lives in relation to the rest of our home. It sits directly on our side patio adjacent to our dining room via a set of french doors. I love that I can see the girls playing and they have easy access in and out! One of the reasons we hacked the playhouse was to keep the aesthetic in line with the rest of our home so it blended seamlessly. We also painted it to protect it from the elements and it has held up beautifully.

Spring is a great time to add pretty flowers – you can add real or faux blooms. We also baked some yummy cupcakes and the girls served treats to one another!

Summer Playhouse

The ultimate time for fun with a playhouse – summer! I snagged some cute lemonade stand items and the girls decided to use them to make their playhouse a lemonade stand – such a great idea! I helped them style it and they had a blast. You can read how to transform your playhouse to a lemonade stand by heading here.

Oh the dog days of summer! Mavis our sweet puppy loves the playhouse too. She has fun going in and out and after I shared this picture several readers and followers said they wanted to make a playhouse for their doggies and use it as a dog house – such an awesome idea!! I think it would be every dog’s dream – what do you think?!
