Living in Southern California our kiddos don’t have the opportunity to experience the full magic of fall like I did growing up in Central New York. Every year I would look forward to the changing seasons and the vibrant colors that followed. So I decided I would re-create the magic of fall for my girls with their playhouse. You can see how we transformed our KidKraft© playhouse by reading all about our playhouse hack here and how I transformed it to a lemonade stand by heading here. Here’s how you can achieve this magical fall playhouse look with just a few simple items!

Fall Leaves

It’s easy to create an autumn scene by adding just a few key elements. I found our real fall leaves at a local wholesale flower market. They were the perfect touch and the girls love playing with them.

Depending on where you live you can scoop some up with your kiddos. If you live in areas like we do that have more palm trees that fall leaves, head to your local flower market to buy some or you can always go with a faux leave option too.

Pumpkins for Sale

When we think of fall we think of pumpkins! I added pumpkins in one of their metal crates and updated their cute chalkboard sign. My girls love pretending they are at a pumpkin patch selling pumpkins to one another.

Fall Welcome Mat

Nothing welcomes you to a home or in this case a playhouse like a cute welcome mat. I found this adorable one for the girls and I’ve linked several other cute options below!

Colorful Mums

Fall is not complete without gorgeous fall mums in a variety of colors. I updated our modern white and wood planter with these pretty burgundy colored flowers and surrounded them with vibrant oranges and golden yellow.

Olive Buckets, Metal Crates & Modern Planters

Using cute items to coral your pumpkins and flowers makes it easier to organize and move them around the playhouse. I love the modern farmhouse feel that olive buckets, metal crates and our modern planter add to our little playhouse. You can also take olive branches and wrap them in ribbon for the kiddos to play with and pretend they are at a fall flower market.

Fall Decor for the Inside of Your Playhouse

Here’s a little tour of the inside – I get so many questions about the inside – so here it is! I added a few more pumpkins and mums – keeping it simple so they can move around and play make believe. We have always had this letter “L” that I spray painted to match the black trim – I love how it gives our playhouse a custom touch.

Succulents in wooden planters surround our playhouse because they are easy to maintain and look pretty at the same time.

Using the girl’s chalkboard I left them a cute message for fall. They love playing with their wooden eggs in the play kitchen area.

I hope you found this post inspirational for getting your playhouse hack decorated for fall! What elements are your favorite? Have you done a playhouse hack?
