Neutral + Cozy Master Bedroom Update

I’m super excited to share our neutral + cozy master bedroom update with you! The itch to give our master bedroom a little update didn’t happen over night. I realized that after a year of living in our fixer upper I was ready to take the plunge an add some personality and style and up the cozy factor. Also once a year Serena & Lily has 25% off and this current sale is going on today!!

Ever since I turned 40 I have a renewed perspective an appreciation for the little things in life. The things I value and really appreciate – like good sleep! I also feel like investing in quality items that you use daily are worth every penny.  I am partnering with Serena & Lily and sharing our master bedroom update with you.

I’m sharing the process, details, source info and mood board that you can use for inspiration! Mixing and matching higher end items with more affordable items is totally my jam. By investing in key items you can also achieve this look.

Now let’s take a look at all the details. Make sure to subscribe to the blog at the end of this post for the reveal that will be coming soon!

Neutral Pattern: Wallpaper & Area Rug

I wanted to keep our neutral + cozy master bedroom from feeling boring by adding a mix of patterns and textures. The biggest impact I feel will be the addition of this pretty and fresh wallpaper:

We will be adding this wallpaper (color is bone) to the wall behind our headboard and I can’t wait! In lieu of a more traditional or vintage looking rug I opted for this rug that is neutral but also full of personality and pattern.

If you aren’t into pattern this neutral option is beautiful and adds texture:

Neutral White Bedding

We are adding a light weight duvet insert and beautiful white duvet cover from Serena & Lily and it will for sure elevate the cozy factor. I went with a solid white sateen finish for the duvet and matching sheets to keep the bedding from competing with the wallpaper and rug.

Bedskirt

Since we only have a headboard I wanted the opportunity to add fun textural interest with a bedskirt and I found the perfect one!

Neutral Decorative Pillows & Throw Blanket

Sticking with a neutral theme I chose decorative pillow accents with lots of texture. I also love adding 2 euro shams in front of king pillows and then layering with a couple of decorative pillows in different sizes. The white linen euro shams will add another layer of texture to the all white bedding. I love the tassel detail and embroidery of the decorative pillows – they are simply gorgeous and even prettier in person!

This cozy & super soft throw will be the perfect addition to the end of the bed. I can grab it quickly for some snuggle sessions and I may have to hide it from our pup Mavis before she claims it!

Lighting

While I love the look of sconces I wasn’t a huge fan of our plug-in option. I made it work for awhile but decided I wanted to switch back to lamps for more light and less cord! I found these pretty white lamps for a steal and I love how they will compliment all of the white and neutral colors in the space.

What we are keeping in our master bedroom:

Nightstands

While I have the itch to update these I’m going to be practical because I still love them. I will be updating the knobs to something different – I’m currently in the process of deciding what to go with 🙂

Headboard

I always get so many questions about our headboard and it is one of my most favorite purchases. It is going to look so awesome against the pretty new wallpaper.

Ceiling Fan

Initially we had a chandelier installed when we first moved into our fixer upper last summer but we quickly realized we wanted a ceiling fan. We were used to having one in our previous home and felt it was the best choice for air circulation. We found this modern option which I love because it can be so tricky to find a stylish ceiling fan! It works amazingly well and I love the contrast of the black.

Bench

I’d love to keep my current bench on the end of the bed but may decide to update – either way it’s such a great option and I’ll find another place in my home for it if I end up with something different in our master.

Still deciding on…
Artwork:

I love these modern lettered prints and I am debating where I want them to go…I don’t want to hang anything on the wallpaper so I will have to decide on a space that is best suited for them!
