Tortured Poets Department Dinner & Listening Party
I recently threw a Tortured Poets Department Dinner & Listening Party and it was an absolute blast. I wanted to share all the details to inspire you to throw your very own!
Tortured Poets Department Dinner Party Details
I had the best time curating and creating all the little details for our Tortured Poets Department Dinner & Listening Party. I’ve included all of the items with affiliate links to shop. Everyone enjoyed the thought and effort. It definitely made the night feel extra special! I greeted everyone with this adorable printable that I framed along with a feather quill pen and placed in our entryway nook.
The only detail that sadly didn’t make it time for my tablescape (which was totally on me since I ordered last minute) was the adorable book page roses and vintage paper bundle. Looks like I need to throw another party so I can use them!
The dinner party theme was black and white with touches of neutrals and cream tones. I laid the table with the fancy sh*t (IYKYK) and added pretty flower arrangements using a mix of white roses, white mini flowers and greenery from Trader Joe’s. I made bookmark style place cards for each place setting using Canva along with handwritten names. Then I wrapped the napkins with black velvet ribbon, tucked the bookmark on top and added a dried baby’s breath to the side.
Poet Cocktails but make them Taylor Swift Approved
We served French Blonde cocktails one of Taylor Swift’s favorite drinks to sip on. The recipe we used I found here. They were a huge hit and everyone loved them! I took the bar area up a notch with a few Tortured Poet Department details by incorporating flowers and a black velvet bow to a picture frame that listed the cocktail recipe. I found the cutest neutral scalloped cocktail napkins and served the cocktails in pretty coupe glasses.
Tortured Poets Department Dinner & Listening Party Notes
The All’s Fair in Love & Poetry banner was a must to hang over my sideboard mirror. You can customize it by ordering it in different colors – I thought the black was perfect! After appetizers and cocktails were served we dimmed the lights and headed to dinner. I ordered catering from a local restaurant to keep it easy! We were having so much fun that I didn’t grab a picture of how pretty the candles and table lamps looked when it was evening. Highly recommend adding candles and lamps to your dinner party to add ambiance and a moody poet dining experience!
After dinner we grabbed our listening notes that I paired with the cutest black feather quill pen and headed outside by the fire to stream the album and go through each song together. We nibbled on yummy cookies and other desserts while we sang to the lyrics and then tried to decode each one with our different theories! It was so much fun!
How adorable are these custom cookies my sweet friend brought for us to have for dessert?!
Tortured Poet Outfit Inspiration
Everyone who attended wore the cutest outfits – all in black and white. A few of us grabbed this cute t-shirt and we had our sweet friend iron a Tortured Poet design we purchased from Etsy! They turned out sooo cute! We paired it with the cutest black pleated skirt which is a total Alo dupe and now I want it in other colors! You can see what it looks like by heading here. My oldest found the cutest black and white poet inspired dress that I’ve linked in the photo collage below.
It truly was the best time and I want to do it again! Highly recommend getting your fellow Taylor Swift lovers/Swifties together for a Tortured Poets Department Dinner & Listening Party. We created such beautiful memories and now want to make it a monthly get together! There are so many songs to work through, decode, digest and listen to as a group!
xo, Beth
