Make a Plan & Stick to It
This seems obvious but how often do we find ourselves outlining a plan and for some reason or another and the plan is derailed by life…I’ve been there and totally understand how easily this can happen. It takes dedication, determination and excellent follow-through to make a plan and stick with it.
You can do this! I’m here to tell you that you can and give you the encouragement you need. How much better will you feel when you do?! Visualize that feeling in your mind and remain positive and focused.
Use Time Saving Techniques
Using short cuts like some pre-made options + sides or mixing prepared food with homemade food saves you time! You don’t have to make this difficult slaving away over your kitchen stove. So many healthy options are abundant today and ready to make. For example with my chicken taco salads I recently shared, my go-to salad mix is a huge time saver and it’s healthy! Win – Win!!
Try New Things & Experiment
If you eat the same thing over and over and don’t get bored well good for you! That’s not for us and our family though. You have decide what’s best for you and your family – it’s not my place to tell you that.
However I would strongly encourage you to get out of your taste bud comfort zone and experiment and try new recipes. Trying experimenting with different sauces or veggies. The world is your oyster!! When you try new things and experiment with cooking it allows you to learn and grown in your cooking and eating game in a good way. I recommend giving it a try!
Remember Your Health
When you cook at home you are honoring your health and your family’s health. You get to control the ingredients. For example, the sodium and oil content. It allows you to prepare your food with consideration to your family’s dietary and any allergy needs. This makes a world of difference with your health.
We all know that take out, fast food and dining out are not great for your health and waistline – there have been numerous research studies to support this. So think in moderation with dining out and take out and remember how good it feels to cook and prepare meals at home. Your family will appreciate it and your kiddos are watching you – what an awesome role model you are for their future! Bonus – you will be saving money as well π

My husband and I are starting the year with a Whole30 and meal prepping has been so helpful. I also find myself meal prepping while cooking dinner.. If I have something going in the oven I ll also throw in some sweet potatoes or roasted veggies to save for later in the week. Last night, when my dinner was finished, I threw a spaghetti squash in the oven and it was finished and put away before we sat down to watch TV! Doing small prep during the week helps if a huge Sunday cook-up seems overwhelming.
