Summer Home Tour
Welcome to our summer home tour!
Well our summer certainly started off with a bang. My oldest broke her leg on her school field trip to the zoo two weeks before school was out for summer.
She was having fun like any typical kid playing on a play structure and then fell, when she fell it was one of those awkward falls where her little leg took all of the impact. I was standing right there. I heard the crack. She began to cry, my heart sank and I knew it was broken. My training as a pediatric nurse kicked in and the kindness of friends and strangers helped us to call for the paramedic.
It was only maybe 5 or 10 minutes until the paramedic arrived but it felt like an eternity. Hearing your child cry in pain and say she wants to “go home” is absolutely heart breaking. I am so glad I was there and was able to hug her and tell her I would be there with her to make sure she was ok. I was able to wipe her tears and do my best to keep my composure as I waffled between mommy and nurse.
After the paramedic splinted her leg and iced it we took a ride in a wheelchair with her on my lap to the ranger station and I had them call for the ambulance so we could be transported to our local children’s hospital where I had worked for 7 years. They took such amazing care of her in the ER and it was comforting to see all the familiar faces and know that she was in good hands. Many anxious hours later and an IV start for sedation to set her broken leg, a cast was applied and we were quickly adjusting to life with a broken leg. Life with a broken leg is a challenge. I am very grateful that it is fixable. I thanked God that it wasn’t worse – that she didn’t need surgery or need to be admitted to the hospital.
Fast forward to home and the reality hits quickly that she can’t walk and will have to get around in a wheelchair. Every day things that we take for granted like being able to shower and walk to the bathroom are taken away when you have a full leg cast. Remarkably she adjusted to everything very quickly. Kids are so resilient. My daughter has a heart of gold and she is such a trooper. So needless to say, life has slowed down around here and we are enjoying time as a family at home while she recovers and heals. We have our fingers crossed that she will get the full leg cast off soon and convert to a “walking cast”. It has been a very long four weeks.
We have been trying to pass the time with crafts and play dates with her friends. We recently made an outing as a family to the store for craft items and was able to find a few cute items for our home for summer. I kept it simple around here and used mostly items I already owned. Living in California I love the coastal vibe and wanted to add a touch here and there. Needless to stay it was a hit with my girls who love when mommy decorates. I hope you enjoy the tour of our home and thank you for stopping by!
My new mint, strawberry and berry concoction was a recent hit with my girls – so refreshing and they absolutely loved it. It is also a great beverage to serve guests on a hot summer day!
Thank you for stopping by to view my summer home tour,
I hope you have a summer filled with fun memories, adventures, and happiness!
We will be counting down the days until we can head to the pool and the beach – cast free!
Beth, xo

Thank you so much!
Love the kitchen! Did you paint your cabinets or buy them that color? Also, what is your countertop material and color? Thanks!
Hi Allison!
Thank you so much – we purchased the cabinets via IKEA and the countertop is LG Viatera Quartz in Cirrus. I am working on a kitchen post soon with all the details so head back soon & subscribe for updates 🙂
